Good evening,
as you may have noticed we’ve been in Dublin for the web summit tech conference.

Day #1 – Tuesday

After the flight from Berlin TXL to Dublin DUB via Frankfurt FRA we arrived at our living quarters in the evening.

There we had to get a small doses of internet, before we went out to find something to eat. We ended up in the Aussie BBQ for some nice good burgers and spicy hot wings.

Later we took a look at the pubs right around the corner of the hostel and went to bed early since we had to be at our stand at 8:30 am the next morning

Day #2 – Wednesday

As you can see there wasn’t really much space. So every of the approx. 450 startups had a shelf which was 1 meter wide. About 15 of these stands were next to each other before there was a gap to the next row. Straight across our stand there were more stands. The distance between both sides was about 3,5 meters. So the whole situation was extremely narrow.

In the morning there were free snacks for everyone. Drinks were free the whole time.

The downside was that the internet wasn’t working at all. Who could have guessed that 10.000 visitors with around 15.000 wifi devices would like to access the internet?!? So yeah.. we ended up buffering a couple of websites and clips over 3G tethering in different browser tabs to be able to show at least something. A real demo wasn’t possible.

At the same time there was the food summit like 10 minutes away from the compound. There we tasted a big variety of meals and snacks that have been produced by over 60 food businesses of Ireland.

In the evening we went to the night summit which basically meant free drinks for everyone for most of the night and all kinds of live music in several bars in the middle of Dublin. On our way through the city we discovered the following store.

Day #3 – Thursday

On thursday morning we participated at the Halloween Brunch which was hosted by Shadow. Besides good food and nice chats they had awesome couch tables there.

Later we went to the conference as usual visitors, checked out a bunch of startups and watched some presentations and talks.
For example we saw Tony Hawk, Elon Musk, Shane Smith and the Irish PM Enda Kenny. Especially the talks on the main stage were nice to see and can be streamed over the internet.

From the pool of startups we especially liked the Austrian guys from Patio and their app as well as the Berlin crew that is working on Delight, a native 3D engine for the web.

At night we stopped by at the closing party that was sponsored by Microsoft Bing and was just one massive fail. All visitors got half a free drink. We arrived at 11 pm and beer was already empty. Furthermore the party was in a courtyard and not inside. That wasn’t very fun at felt 5°C and probably also the reason for why there were only like 30 people there. At 12 pm the party closed already.

Subsequent we headed to a pub with some live music. Later Bojan decided to raise some money as a street musician to further bootstrap the development of cliperize.

Day #4 – Friday

On the last way we flew back home to Berlin TXL. This time with a stopover in Stockholm ARN.

Conclusion

It was a couple of good days in Dublin where we met some interesting startups and made some great contacts. Moreover we also got some valuable input on our project.
More news to follow soon!

Best,

Greetings, here is our summary of the past few days when we were in Berlin at Tech Open Air and visited our friends at stylemarks…

Greetings,
here is our summary of the past few days when we were in Berlin at Tech Open Air and visited our friends at stylemarks and Dropspot.

Day #1 – Wednesday

After an 6 hour ride from Augsburg with an hour holdup because of a traffic jam we arrived in Berlin and went straight to the guys of Dropspot that a part of us worked for. Recently they moved into the rooms of the Axel Springer Plug & Play Accelerator. We received a nice intro to the accelerator as well as great advice regarding cliperize. Thanks again!

Afterwards we visited the fine people of stylemarks in their office which is located in the building of ImmobilienScout. We know them from hub:raum Accelerator from winter 2012 and have been working for them on a regular basis. Since they were kind of busy we had to kill some time with Guitar Hero.

About 3 hours later we grabbed some excellent Schawarma to eat and planned the next couple of days.

Day #2 – Thursday

In the morning we went to the Tech Open Air which took place at Kater Holzig where we spent the whole day eating and drinking. Besides interesting talks and presentations we took multiple boat rides on the Spree river.

In the evening we pitched our idea as one of five selected startups at the Pitch Clinic Vol. II. We didn’t win but at least someone got a bit wet, though.

A couple of drinks later we moved to the after party at Flux Bau. Partially by boat.

Day #3 – Friday

After a two hour working session in the morning we went to the Axel Springer Hangover Breakfast on the rooftop of their headquarter.

Since we arrived towards the end of the breakfast most of the good stuff was already gone and so we only got some pretzels and liquid butter. After this we had a stopover at the 3D-printing event at DaWanda’s. They were scanning peoples’ torsos with a Microsoft Kinect that were printed out in 3D afterwards.

Later we helped out stylemarks at finishing their web app that was launched earlier this week. You can take a look here: stylemarks.de. The day ended with another fantastic night!

Day #4 – Saturday

Not that much happened on Saturday since we’ve been working all day at stylemarks.
But we achieved this:

Day #5 – Sunday

Sunday? Workday.
In the evening we went to the SUOL Open Air.

Day #6 – Monday

Monday morning there was abandoned luggage in front of the place we stayed. While waiting for a bomb squad the police blocked the whole street and told everyone to stay inside and close all windows. We went straight to the office and worked until 3 am in the morning which equals about 17 hours.

Day #7 – Tuesday

With like 4 hours of sleep besides work not much happened that day. In the evening we went to the White Trash Restaurant and played some Pac-Man.

We also got fortune cookies and one of them had two pieces of wisdom in it that really hit the spot.

Day #8 – Wednesday

On our last day in Berlin we were working as usual, took a random picture and travelled back to Augsburg.

In summary we had an excellent time and want to greet everyone we met and had the pleasure to receive their advice regarding cliperize.

Until next time!

What about the current state of development?

The interface design is finished except for the email template. Everything that has been designed is already coded, too. Our backend moves at approx. 80% and the frontend is at 85%.

We are very happy with our progress and are confident to launch with our alpha phase in the next weeks.

Hands on at Werkschau

To see cliperize in action for the first time in public there is a chance this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the University of Applied Sciences Augsburg during the Werkschau vernissage.

Have a great day and stay tuned!

Good morning,
in this post we want to explain what cliperize actually is, how it works and what the benefits are.

Imagine you discover a nice song on SoundCloud, a friend sends you a funny video on YouTube or you see an interesting tutorial on Vimeo. At the current time you watch the clip or listen to it, maybe share it on Facebook or Twitter and if you want to remember it, you might create a bookmark in your browser to have a look at it at a later time. After a couple of weeks your bookmarks will probably look like in the following picture.

All songs and video bookmarks are listed in chronological order but it is hard to find a specific clip because of lack of a search function or because you have to read all the titles.

Our goal is to drastically improve this.
Basically you can bookmark videos and songs into our web application and search for it. In the beginning we are going to support all the mature platforms: YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud and Dailymotion. Once you have a clip or a track inside your profile you can watch or listen to it on cliperize itself. Furthermore you can create custom playlists, so called cliplists, and even combine the supported platforms. For example you could generate a cliplist called “Photoshop Tutorials” which contains videos from Vimeo and YouTube. Once created, you can watch the content in sequence and publish the cliplist. Now another user might discover your cliplist and subscribe to it. Afterwards that user can play that cliplist like it is one of his own. When you, the creator, modifys it or adds another video to it, all subscribers will get these updates as well. In addition it is possible to follow other users with similar taste in music, movie trailers or whatever you can think of. From now on you will receive a notification once the person you’re following adds a new clip or creates a new cliplist. Any published cliplist can be shared, too. This happens via URL which leads to our external player.

But what does it look like?

Just kidding.
This is how it looked a few months ago. With feedback from friends and the fine people at hub:raum accelerator in Berlin this winter we tried a lot of different things, changed, tweaked and improved the interface several times.

And this is how it really looks:

That’s it. We hope you love it as much as we do.
Next time we are going to show you some more details.

Until then,

Hi folks, it took us much more time as we thought to write about our experiences at the accelerator program, because every day is packed with information, great talks, discussions and much more. So besides trying to upload some nice insights and content, we´re really working hard on cliperize, to make this a great product. We have far to many ideas that we want to implement in our BETA version. We´re very excited.
But before we talk about things that could happen let´s talk about things which really have happened. We´ve had an incredible week with great talks, nice meetings and even better mentor sessions.

After we had our Kick Off event on Sunday it really started with a talk by Thom Cummings (VP of marketing at soundcloud) who gave us great insights in doing startup marketing right. We had the chance to meet Thom on Thursday again for a more closer talk, to put it in three words: It was brilliant. He had a lot of great tipps and asked questions we never thought about. Another mentor we have to mention is Manon Goo, an awesome techie who instantly knew what our situation is and helped us in many ways. Unfortunately we didn´t have the time to talk to Bernd Beimdick. We also have to mention Robert Chatley, who did an interesting talk about lean agile product development.

Besides all the talks and sessions, we had an special evening on Wednesday where we had the chance to meet a lot of different and interesting people, e.g. Deutsche Telekom, especially the hub:raum crew, the cool guys from BLINKIST, Andreas from re:publica and new thinking, Ken of Commandante Berlin just to name a few. Thanks for having us, it was really great.

The second week already started and it´s getting better from day to day. We met Alex Barrera who gave insights in going international with your business. Besides that he´s a nice and interesting person. (Is there anything you couldn´t talk about, Alex?) He had two very important advices. First “give before you take” and second, do the “reversed pitch” when talking to a person.

Yesterday the very entertaining Collette Ballou held a presentation about startup PR. (we love the voice impressions of possible or former clients). Collette really shared her knowledge and gave detailed insights into PR for startups.

Finally today we worked together with Jörg Reinboldt on our strategic goal.We highly recommend to read his and Niko Waesche´s book “Simply Seven”.

Like the well known saying that the best comes for last, we´ve just listened to Caroline Drucker about the topic “public speaking making you your speech right”. This woman is amazing and for sure a real speaker! The things we keep in mind: Practice your speech as much as possible. Structure your speech and make it simple as possible.

As you can see we´ve learned a lot through this one and a half weeks. Really trying to take as much as we can out of this accelerator program to deliver you a great and fun to use product. We appreciate all the work hub:raum is doing for us.

Last but not least here a first look at our interface. Hope you like it.

Thanks folks and stay tuned.

P.S: If you wanna help us out a little bit, share this article, like us on facebook or twitter and tell your friends about us.

Much love

Florian

Hey cliperizers, while writing these lines we already started working at the betahaus in Berlin. But first of all we’ll tell you a little bit…

Hey cliperizers,

while writing these lines we already started working at the betahaus in Berlin. But first of all we’ll tell you a little bit about the hub:raum onboarding event yesterday. Finally we got to know all the other teams, their ideas and concepts and even more important: the people behind them. For that we did an interesting presentation type called “lifetime”. Every single one of us had 3 minutes max to introduce himself with all the ups and downs in his life and what shaped his personality. Everyone did a great job and it was exciting to hear about everyone’s background stories.

Besides that we did a guided tour through Berlin Kreuzberg. Now we know where to get the best mexican food in Berlin regarding to <a href="https://twitter.com/cafelido"target="_blank">Niko Waesche, great turkish tea, coffee and breakfast. And if you have “lost” your iPad in Berlin check out Kottbusser Tor, you might get a chance to find it there.

After that we explored the betahaus with it’s four floors, lots of coworkers, nice betaCafe and very cool tinkering place called OpenDesignCity. If you´re intrested in building stuff, learning how to weld or getting into arduino and makerbot stuff you have to check out this place.

In the evening we had a tasty lunch, nice conversation and a few beers. A perfect thing to call it a day.

And now back to business, today we had second introduction with more details on the hub:raum mentors, the pitching programm and General Assembly. If you haven´t heard about General Assembly before, check them out, it´s not simply about learning something, it´s a movement which could change how we learn and study in the future.

A last few words about cliperize, as you can see below Bojan is working hard on our new designs, Bernd and Manu working on the system architecture thereby we can provide you cliperize as soon as possible.
.

Hey folks,
today we got big news for you. We´re part of the very first accelerator program at hub:raum Berlin. If you follow us on twitter you might have recognized, that we already announced this a couple weeks ago. Today we´ll give you a look behind the scenes and tell you how we connected with the organizers and managed to get one of the rare places in this program. It all started with Bojan watching the live-stream of this year´s websummit in Dublin. One of the talks was very intersting for us. It was held by Fee Beyer of hub:raum Berlin and was about the upcoming accelerator program, which would take place in November, December and January. Sadly we already missed the deadline to apply with our start-up. Inspired by the talk Bojan wanted to try to be part of the accelerator program. He decide to write a short comment via twitter at Fee. Surpringsly Fee answered and ask us to send a short presentation about cliperize. We knew that would be our chance so we put all the efforts in this presentation. It was even more challenging because neither Bojan nor Florian did a professional presentation before. Not to mention that Bojan was on his way to Tokyo. After the presentation was sent, Fee asked us for a personal interview. We did the interview and the rest is history. We´re very happy to be part of the very first hub:raum accelerator program. Thanks for the chance and all the people who made this possible. See you in Berlin!
